-30 degrees

Today had to be the coldest day I've ever experienced. Yeah yeah, I know I live in Minneapolis for 4 years and I've had my share of cold days but today was very painful. The wind here makes it worse than MN. It was over -30 degrees with the windchill. The dogs would barely walk after about a minute outside. Even Josie, who loves the cold and the snow had a hard time. After the first trip outside, I decided to break Myles' coat out, which he hates with a passion. So, this isn't craft related but I thought the pictures were cute.

Wrapping and Gift Tags

Every year my Mom has a gift wrapping theme and I usually try to follow...it's fun and I appreciate that kind of thing. This year she is doing all brown craft paper wrapped boxes and using a different colored ribbon for each person. Well, I thought I would use this as an opportunity to use up some pretty Christmas papers I bought at Paper Source and make my own paper wrappers for my brown craft paper wrapped boxes. I think they turned out great!
I also figured now would be a good time to use that Cricut (my dye cutter) that usually just sits on my desk to make some homemade gift tags. They might be my new favorite thing...

While the merry bells keep ringing....

Just a few weeks ago I said that I wasn't really planning on doing any decorating for the holidays. I was feeling overwhelmed with work, Chirstmas shopping, and blah blah blah. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and a couple trips to Joanns and we now have a $40 fake Christmas tree (thank you 50% off) decorated along with a lovely fireplace. I'm now so into it that I've started making handmade gift tags and have a "theme" for my gift wrapping. Here are a few photos...

Green with Envy...

One of my favorite fabric designers, Anna Maria Horner, has an amazing slide show on Flickr showcasing her home. It looks like such a fun and happy home to live in and these photos have given me so many ideas for our next house. You have to check it out!

Baby Rag Quilts

I’ve been working on a lot of baby projects lately for all my procreating friends. Here are the last two baby rag quilts I made. The blue one was for Hilarie’s baby boy due this month and the pink one was made for Nina, Liz and Nelson’s second beautiful baby girl born in August.
These quilts are really easy to make. The most time consuming parts are cutting all the fabrics and snipping the ends when it’s all put together. I’ll post step by step instructions later

A little taste of France in Los Angeles

I was in LA this past weekend visiting friends and exploring neighborhoods with my sister as she is planning on moving there in a couple of months. We went into this store in West Hollywood that had some of the most fantastic home accessories. I was very excited to see you can shop on their website as well! There was a fantastic Kaffe Fassett afghan there and now I’m searching for the pattern…stay tuned. Maison-Midi, I love you.

Just getting started...

Welcome to my craft blog! After reading many of my favorite blogs for the last year or so, I figured it was about time to start my own. This will be a place for me to post about all things crafty. Hopefully it evolves into a blog others will come to for ideas and inspiration!
